Deansgate South 2Residential low carbon property developer Beech Holdings has snapped up a plot of land in Manchester city centre – and will create 53 apartments.

The ‘Deansgate South’ scheme, on the corner of Deansgate and Chester Road in Castlefield, will be completed by the end of 2018.

Beech Holdings boss Stephen Beech described the development, which will include one and two-bedroom living spaces, as “unique”.

He said: “Deansgate South is special to us for two reasons: first, it is a major gateway site, regenerating one of the main arterial routes into the city. Second, from a purely technical point of view, Deansgate South has a unique shape, which is rare to find anywhere else in Manchester. We look forward to delivering great things from it.”

It comes after Beech Holdings bought the plot from a private investor who had previously been granted planning permission to build a 13-storey building and a ground floor commercial unit earlier in 2016.

Beech Holdings, which owns £65m of residential housing stock in Greater Manchester, including several city centre buildings and another 120 properties in the region, confirmed that clearance work has started on site and the scheme will go-ahead as approved by planners.
